Our Lurgan Shop is looking to recruit the following Staff
Cook – 1 x 37.5hrs (Additional hours may be required occasionally to cover evening events)
Café and Bookshop Sales Assistant – 1 x 21.5hrs and 1 x 7hrs Saturday Cover
The Faith Mission Bookshops and cafes provide a neutral environment where members of the public can come and enquire about the Christian Faith while sourcing appropriate books and materials, enjoy a tea or coffee and food, and engage in conversations with our members of staff and fellow customers about the Christian faith.
A new and exciting opportunity has been presented to the Faith Mission to take over the café situated next door to our existing bookshop in Lurgan. As part of this development we are looking to appoint a new enthusiastic and hard working team to come in and help take this new opportunity forward and grow the existing bookshop. To this end we are seeking individuals to undertake both the Cook’s role and those of Café and Bookshop Assistants.
The cook will play a pivotal part in ensuring that the experience enjoyed by our customers is one they will not forget. To ensure this customer experience the cook will play a key role in helping to streamline work from back of house to front of house and will be responsible for the kitchen area and all that work in it. The role will also involve devising and maintain fresh menus and cooking methods which deliver a wide range of excellent quality food for our customers. The successful candidate must be able to cope in a fast-paced retail café environment.
Our Café and Bookshop Sales Assistant’s perform a vital role as part of the team in delivering excellent customer service. While in the café the successful candidates will need to be efficient, attentive and anticipate customer needs to ensure the experience enjoyed by our customers is what they would expect in a professional coffee shop environment. When working in the bookshop the role will involve providing expertise to customers on current Christian titles, Bibles, Multi-Media, Gifts and other Christian materials to best suit the customer’s Christian context.
A further key part of both the cook or the assistant, whether working in the café or bookshop, is talking about what Christian Faith is and what Jesus has done for them when people enquire.
